Visitors are an important part of the healing process, and we encourage family and friends to visit during your stay. Visiting guidelines
ensure that patients have adequate rest and allow our staff to provide the best possible care. If you have questions about visiting hours, please ask your nurse.
Only persons having legitimate business will be allowed to enter the hospital. All patients, visitors and employees must stop at the main entrance to obtain a pass or show their identification badge. Patients and visitors may be asked to sign in.
Howard University Hospital’s current visiting hours are as follows:
- General visiting hours for the Main Hospital and Towers Building Lobby are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- The Emergency Department entrance is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Maternity visiting hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Labor and Delivery allows 24-hour visitation.
All visitors are required to check-in at the visitor desk and present a state-issued photo ID. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting inpatient units, outpatient testing or therapy areas, and surgical areas. After 8:00 p.m., all visitors must enter through the Emergency Department entrance, check-in with Department of Public Safety, and present a valid photo ID.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healing environment for our patients, families, and staff.
Flowers for patients are welcome, except on intensive care units. No outside food may be brought into the hospital by or for patients/visitors without specific approval of a physician.
