About Urooj Fatima
Dr. Urooj Fatima is an interventional cardiologist and Assistant Professor at Howard University Hospital. She serves as the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program. Dr. Fatima completed her cardiology fellowship at Howard University Hospital, followed by advanced training in interventional cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina. She is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and interventional cardiology. Dr. Fatima has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles. She has also served as an American College of Cardiology (ACC) abstract reviewer for the past four years and is a valued member of the Graduate Medical Education Leadership Council. Currently, she is serving as site co-PI at Howard University for a multicenter randomized clinical trial of Lp(a) lowering therapy in US Black/African American and Hispanic patients with established cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Fatima’s clinical interests include high-risk indicated coronary interventions, mechanical circulatory support devices, and cardiogenic shock. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to equitable healthcare by initiating the Howard University–EMS collaboration for STEMI care in Washington, D.C., ensuring state-of-the-art and equitable treatment for patients in the region. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling and spending time with family.
