About Shannon Wentworth
Dr. Shannon Wentworth is an assistant professor and academic generalist Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Howard University. She obtained her medical doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. She then specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology while at the University of Tennessee Medical Center Knoxville. She became an OB-GYN because she is passionate about reproductive health and empowering people to make informed decisions about their bodies. She enjoys discussing a wide range of topics like contraception, family planning, and pelvic pain, while also emphasizing the importance of preventive care, like cervical cancer screening. She is currently the Medical Student Clerkship Director in Obstetrics and Gynecology and serves on the curriculum committee at the Howard University College of Medicine.

Nationally, she is a member of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is an American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Fellow. She is an Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Surgical Education Scholar and has presented her research at regional and national meetings. During her care, she places an emphasis on education and advocacy. She came to Howard to engage in thoughtful conversations with patients and to support the education of the next generation of physicians. She finds it incredibly rewarding to provide care in a way that is respectful and inclusive of everyone and to support individuals in their reproductive health journey, whatever that may look like for them.
