General
Information
The
Division of Cardiovascular Diseases,
the largest section in the Department
of
Medicine, offers a comprehensive
cardiovascular diagnostic and treatment
program by
board-certified cardiologists. It
also offers a cardiac rehabilitation
program and a
preventive cardiology program aimed
at improving the functional impact
of the effects of
heart diseases.
Diagnoses
and complex therapies are provided
by specialists in cardiovascular
diseases.
Continuing management is through
the ambulatory care cardiac and
hypertension clinics.
A cardiac intensive care unit is
dedicated to the management of patients
admitted with
myocardial infarction and other
severe heart diseases.
Services
Diagnostic
services and therapeutic management
services include cardiac
catheterization, echocardiography,
electrophysiology, pacemakers, radionuclear
cardiology and exercise physiology
.The cardiac catheterization laboratory
provides the
complex treatment modalities of
coronary thrombolysis and coronary
and peripheral
angioplasty (PTCA/Stents ).
